We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

The Library Lock-In

Look at this crazy group of girls (and one happy mom peeking in the back)!

Add one wild boy riding shotgun...

And the base library, pillows, sleeping bags and LOTS of snacks and you have...

The Tween Library Lock-in!

These kids were among the lucky few who made the cut for this special event. They got to stay up as late as they wanted, play games, eat, read, talk, etc. all in the library. They had a blast!

Jake might have been a little worried about being the only dude in our little group...but there was a boy he knew from school, so he had a partner in crime!

Troy suggested that Coree make a fort out of books to sleep in, but I'm pretty sure they covered something like that on the permission slip (NOT to do it!).

They arrived home wiped out the next morning, but had a great time!
