We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

Dragon...and Wind from America

In consulting the Okinawa Travel Guide for someplace new to eat, I was reminded of a nearby Chinese noodle place called 'Dragon' that a couple of people recommended. It's cheap, and noodles sounded especially satisfying, so we had a plan for our Saturday adventure.

Jake is a chopstick pro by now...

Patrick LOVED the seedy atmosphere ('chill' is how he referred to it) and the fact that they served Coke in bottles. Yes, my children are easily impressed.

Coree's looked better than mine.

Afterward, we stopped by this place I'd been wanting to check out...

I wanted to know what the wind from America for all the family was about.

You can dress 'em up, but you can't take 'em out!

Mama-beh-beh...Beh-beh-mama!

In his Guitar Hero dreams!

So, the wind from America turned out to be WAY overpriced, new and used STUFF from the US of A. Used Old Navy shirts for more than you would have paid for them new. Barrels of grimy Happy Meal toys for more than you paid for the meal. New, plain t-shirts (the 5 for $5 variety) for $15 each. But the characters were fun to take pictures with, and the American wind mystery has been solved for me!

Yeah, we laughed so hard at the prices the first time we went in there! Did it still smell funny?
