We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

My Favorite Time of Year!

Summer just started last week, so we have the whole thing to look forward to! Anything is possible. I might actually get caught up on my scrapbooking (get real!) or clean out the garage AND my closets in order to lighten our load for our upcoming move. 4000 pounds isn't a whole lot of stuff we can take! I don't have to worry about how much vocabulary or math the kids are doing, or having our work samples pulled for consultation. We can go to the pool every day if we want, or just chill at home or with friends. The social opportunities are starting to rack up this week, though. A birthday lunch for friends tomorrow, a play-date for Coree, swimming at another friend's on Tuesday, piano still on Wednesday, a mani-pedi on Thursday, and Friday, a good old-fashioned 4th of July breakfast complete with bicycle parade. Cliff will be praying at the festival out at the college that evening, which should be fun. At least the temp will drop down to about 105 by fireworks time!

Here's a family pic from Patrick's 8th grade graduation last Thursday. Check out the video, too. He's sure a unique individual...we're so proud!
