Living on Okinawa, you see lots of scooters. Motorcycles, too...but more scooters. It reminds me of my fondness for them back in the 80's. I was so determined to get a Vespa. I wonder whatever happened to that plan?
The closest I ever got was my Senior trip to Hawaii. One of my friends who was on the trip was from Hawaii. He still had family there, too. Anyway, he was able to secure several scooters one day and I got to go riding around Honolulu with him. That was awesome. After we arrived here, I asked Cliff if I could get one. He said "absolutely not". (Buzzkiller)
So, I just have to live vicariously. Patrick and I spotted this beauty this morning (on our way home from his all-night cast party):
Patrick thought this looked like a pretty sweet life. He tried to imagine himself in it...only instead of a guitar between his legs, Patrick said he'd have a shotgun (since he's going to be an assassin, after all). Ya, that'd be inconspicuous.
We spotted this guy on Friday. Looks like he ran a few errands on his way home from the office. Is it just me, or is it impossible to look professional with a bowl over your head?
Oh well, I still want one. I wouldn't be wearing a suit to drive it, anyway. I'd only use it to go to the beach on weekends. Come on, Cliffie...whaddya think?

HI Carrie,
I think you should bill it as your "mid-life" crisis purchase. How can Cliff argue w/that? It's a lot cheaper than a car, an exotic trip and plus they're everywhere. Tell him it's only while you're in Okinawa.
Tell me what his response is. Just don't tell me he doesn't want me reading your blog and sharing my hare-brained ideas. 8~)
Chat soon,
The Troublemaker
I am going to try that one. Maybe for our anniversary? I still don't think he'd go for it. I should mention, it's not that he's opposed to spending the money (vehicles of all kinds are cheap here) it's a safety thing with him. He used to be a motorcycle rider until he had a near death experience and then he was done. We had a good friend nearly lose his life from injuries sustained on a motorcycle (Hi Dan and Minetta!) and is lucky to be alive. I lost a good friend in the Navy on a motorcycle...so that is where Cliff is coming from. I can rationalize it in my mind (cars drive slower, they're smaller here) but then again, someone just died on a scooter or motorcycle last week, so I guess I'm better safe than sorry!
