We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

Congrats Troy! (or...We LOVE the Commissary!)

When we were going through the process of helping Troy obtain transcripts, fill out applications, gather letters of reference and come up with essay ideas...I was thinking I understand why so many scholarships go unclaimed. It's not that so few people fit whatever the scholarship requirements are...it's that it's a pain.in.the.behind.

Well, all the hard work paid off in this case. Troy was selected as the winner of the $1500 scholarship for our commissary on Camp Foster. This is a tougher one to get, because each commissary usually only awards one (unless they have a large number of applicants).

Way to go, Troy! And we'll make sure to keep supporting our local commissary. (Like we wouldn't, anyway!)
