We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

A (Mostly) Lovely Evening

Tonight, I attended a very lovely evening to say farewell to a friend who I admire so much. She is a classy, down-to-earth, all-around fun person...and she's our C G's wife. She'll be headed back the the States next month for a new assignment.

The evening was full of delicious food and beverage...

A gorgeous view (well, other than those threatening clouds)...

Lots of mingling...

Some tear-filled speeches...

Beautiful women...

Good friends...

Lots of hugs...

And special gifts.
