We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

Lost in Translation...Glamor Edition

On Facebook, I have 9 friends named Amy. Nine. And all of my Amy friends aren't even on Facebook. I never realized how popular the name is. (It is a great name.)

This goes out to all those Amys. Love ya...mean it!

I'm thinking this translation was not only lost...it's not even on the map. ("I get my hair done at Freak-Freak...can you tell?")

I think this must be another location...you know...as opposed to Kem's without hair.

Isn't it funny how certain names can be very popular. Are all your Amys of similar ages? Maybe it was THE name at the time they were born. Here in Australia it is the name Maree!

Gina, I have never seen the name Maree. How is it pronounced...like Mary, or Marie, or something else?

My Amys are roughly between the ages of 30 and 40 (give or take). I don't know if that's close enough to constitute a trend or not. I love the name, though!
