We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

Shopping on a Rainy Day

I am actually enjoying Christmas shopping here more than I thought I would. It has been somewhat of a challenge to shop for the kids...but thanks to the Internet, that's not such an issue, really. There are LOTS of cool Japanese things to get here to send home, so that has been fun.

I stopped for lunch while out shopping today and just thought I'd share some random shots with you. Guess where I went?

My favorite little Hawaiian place.

It was raining...but fun to people watch...

Then I had one more stop to make...Apple Co-op. I really love this grocery store. I decided to bring the kids a treat from the bakery. Have you ever heard of Anpanman? He's on everything over here. He's a little Japanese super-hero guy. Here he is on some snacks:

Well, he does Christmas, too...

These guys were yummy with a chocolate filling.

Merry Christmas!
