We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

Pumpkin Drop 2009

Call us crazy...but sometimes Cliff and I not only go along with stuff like this...but we initiate it. This year, we never got around to carving the pumpkins into Jack-O-Lanterns. They sat out on our front porch for over a month. They didn't look too bad on the outside, but inside I was sure they were rotten (they were).

When one of the kids asked if we should just throw them away, I can't remember if it was Cliff or me that said, "Let's drop them off the roof first." We both thought it, though...that's the scary part. Needless to say, the kids were very enthusiastic.

Here's how it played out:

Um...ya. This one was a little disturbing. We're going to keep an eye on this kid. Just sayin'.

Yikes!

The deal was, they had to clean up the guts when the fun was over...which they happily complied with. Well, they were cooperative, at least. That's all I care about.

I wonder if this will become a tradition?
