We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

More Voodoo Food

Just thought I'd share some more of what I've been making. This is Fried Udon Noodles. Yummy cabbage, onion, garlic and lots of paprika...topped with toasted sesame seeds and seaweed flakes.

And here is another vegan fried rice. The lotus root makes this, I think. I added beans instead of tofu this time.

Dinner is served!

Everyone liked this...except Patrick felt the Udon dish was deceptive. He says the color made it seem exotic...but the flavor didn't match. I have to agree. Something that deep red seems like it should have more spice. I'm going to try to revamp it for next time.

What do you think...does it look edible?
