We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

The Gift of a Perfectly FABULOUS Day! (Part 1)

Family days seem so few and far between lately. School and work days are (of course) full of school and work, Saturdays are full of all the stuff people try to fit in that they can't schedule on weekdays...and Sundays? The day of rest? Bah...since when?!

Yesterday, however...was a glorious day. The weather was nice, we got our chores done, and had a lovely family outing. Originally, we just planned on going to McDonald's. That's all Coree wanted. We don't typically "do" American food here...and even though the McDonald's definitely has it's own Japanese twist, we've only been there once in the year we've lived here. That's probably why she wanted it so much. Well, the boys talked her into Mos Burger (a Japanese "fine" fast-food burger chain) but it was SO crowded, there was no way we were getting seating for six. (At 3 o'clock in the afternoon, too...what gives?) We decided to head down to the water and try another burger joint. It's one I had avoided (again, because we don't typically eat American when we go out...but also because I'd heard it was on the pricey side).

Seaside Jet City Burger did NOT disappoint. Everyone found a burger they loved (except me, I don't like burgers...but found a yummy chicken burrito) and the atmosphere was pretty sweet.

Here's some photos of our visit:

Here's the yummy goodness up close:

I like how they all come with a French toast stick...and many of them with a fried egg.

Good-bye Jet City...I promise, we'll be back!

HI Carrie,

How can you not like hamburgers??!?
That is so un-American....kinda like not liking root beer.

You know I have texture issues! But for the record, (1) If you serve me a hamburger, I'll eat it...provided it's thoroughly cooked. (2) I do like "steak" burgers...like ground chuck. It's the gristle I can't handle. Sorry, I have expensive food tastes.
