We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

Back from High Adventure

So our crazy campers made it back from High Adventure on Saturday night.

Since I wasn't there, I might have just had to rely on the evidence of the trip left on their clothing and boots...or guessed that by the way they slowly dragged their packs behind them, it was a great trip...

But lucky for me, Josh Jones took lots of pics...and Facebook made them easy to access.  I (obviously) don't have a lot of details, other than when something was either obvious or labeled.  So without further delay, I give you Troop 117's High Adventure 2010...Yohana hike.

Brother Neal came to gather our boys and two of the Jones' boys a bit earlier than planned on departure day so that they could set up camp (before dark) for the others.  Patrick tells me this is the kitchen.  It rained the first night, so I'm guessing they are trying to stay dry here.

This is the next morning...and I'm guessing Patrick is working on his sniper merit badge.  (If only their was such a thing, huh Patrick?)

The whole group getting ready to hike (other than Dad Jones taking photo).

I love Patrick and his craziness.

Josh with "the ring"...and I'm guessing Patrick dreaming of elevensies?

Oki peace, baby!

Patrick tells me Troy is approaching the second highest peak on Okinawa here.

I don't know how they did some of these trails.  I'd be squealing about snakes and stuff!

This is the view from the peak as the rest approach...

Time for a well deserved break...before they keep marching on.  I don't know how these guys did it!

Don't these trails just kill you?  These are some brave boys...and leaders!

Well, I don't have any pictures of them approaching the highest peak on Okinawa...because they didn't get there until dark.  From what I hear, it was a lot longer than they anticipated...and they ran out of water a couple of hours before they reached it.  Here they are the next morning, though...posing with the markers...

 Captain Morgan...er...I mean, Patrick

Troy, crouching down so the sign would be accurate...otherwise you'd have to add 6'2".

Time to pack up camp and head out on the hike to the vehicles.

Sweet relief! It's over!!

They did a little bit of site-seeing on their way home...

Man, I love this island!

Random craziness

What a dirty bunch!

The End!
