We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

And the X-treme fun award goes to...

So we have been REALLY enjoying snorkeling here. The goal is to go once or twice a week. In fact, Susan and I were SO excited by the cave we saw at Maeda point, that we couldn't wait to show Patrick and Sarah. One problem, though...Susan was leaving with her children for the USA the following day at noonish. What's a mom to do? Well, any other mom might just say, "Oh well, we'll have to go when we get back." But a hard-core, extreme fun mom says, "Well, if I stay up late tonight and get everything packed and done...and if we get up early enough to leave the house by 6:40...we can make it there and back in time to catch the 10:00 shuttle to the airport."

And that is just what we did...Carrie, Susan, Patrick, Sarah and Jake. And it worked beautifully. Now, we didn't have all day to explore the cave like we would have liked...but it was enough of a taste to leave us excited about coming back...which we did, only sans Susan and Co...but we did bring Troy this time. Coree's still freaked out over the eel. We have to work on her some more.

So...something else I did this time was buy a $15 underwater camera. Which cost me $19 to get developed and put on CD...only to discover that approx. three pictures were worth a darn...and only one of those was of a fish. If I do the math on that combination (besides a better chance of actual, usable photos...as opposed to paying $11 a picture) it would take less than 8 of those to equal an underwater digital camera. Which is now my latest burning desire. That and SCUBA lessons. This could get really expensive really quick.

Yeah, you can always work in the underwater world! No matter what the time crunch is!!! Although Clemmons was a little worried about me hitting the 140's 48 hours before flying around the world! LOL! If you snorkel past one more reef you can say hello to my shark for me!!! I miss him!!! I am sooo glad Ed and i dove about 3 times a week during the summer! Sometimes we never missed a day!
