We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

III MEF Band Holiday Concert

It's that time of year again! We LOVE this Okinawa tradition. The III MEF Band was spectacular, once again.

Here are three of our friends from church who are in the band. The two on the left are married...the one on the right (in the middle of the pic) is now father to five, after his wife had twins the night before!

I love a marching band, so it was fun to watch these guys march out of the building to lead us all outside for cookies and cocoa during intermission...

And did a fabulous half-time show like last year, too.

But this...by FAR...was the highlight of the evening for me. Luckily, Melanie (the one with the twins) told me about it beforehand, so I had the camera ready. You may have already seen the original on YouTube by Straight No Chaser. I think these guys do at LEAST as good a job with their version here...but the uniforms may just tip the awesomeness scale. Enjoy!
