On Friday, my mom and grandparents took us to the dinosaur museum in St. George. This is the site where some dinosaur tracks were discovered back in 2000. Since then they've discovered all kinds of fossils, tracks, dinosaur remains, etc. It was very cool.
After we took the self-guided tour, Jake and Coree wanted to try their hand at some fossil rubbings.
It was a nice way to spend a few hours with the family (well, except Grandpa. He took a nap in the car. I guess since he's a local and has seen it before, he can get away with that!)
We still had some shopping to do (our list included ball gowns, Halloween costumes and craft supplies...things that are very limited on Okinawa) so we headed back out on the town. We got to enjoy lunch at one of my favorites:
I'm serious...I LOVE crispy burritos at Taco Time. The past several years that we have been to Utah, I haven't had the opportunity...so we enjoyed. They just don't sell these any place else! I was reminded later why it's been a few years since we've eaten here. Talk about gut-bombs. I didn't feel right the rest of the evening. I'm sure I'll forget soon enough and be back for another round.
That night we went to visit my cousin Kim before she left for a vacation. It had been years since we've been out to her place. We got a little bit lost in the dark, but we came across this:
I had NO idea it was near St. George! That is SO cool.
We eventually found Kim's and had a lovely visit. Justin was at work still, but we got to visit with the kids...and the pets:
Cute, huh?
What a sweet face! (I didn't get a pic of their Afghan hound, though.)
These two really needed to get a room, I tell you!
It took me a minute to figure out what had replaced the fireplace in the corner. It was this guy's home:
Holy Mackerel! And they raised this bruiser from a tiny baby!
Doesn't he look happy? They let him roam around the house sometimes. With the dogs. What must the dogs think?
I was so in awe over all the animals, that I didn't even get any pics of Kim and the kids! We'll have to go back next summer and get some then. And see how much the iguana has grown. And what else they've added to the menagerie!
The End
