We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

Conference 09...Day Eight...Steak and Polygamists

Since Grandma, Grandpa and my mom all had birthdays in August, we decided to take them out to Outback Steakhouse for a belated birthday dinner. (Hey...we got here as soon as we could!)

We had a lovely time. The food was fantastic and the company even better. I wish we had longer to spend with them, but this was a whirlwind trip.

Afterward, Cliff and the kids and I decided to go do some quick shopping. On our way into the Deseret Book parking lot, we had a polygamist sighting...3 ladies together...but by the time I got my camera out, uncapped, etc., this was all I managed to get...

I would have missed this one, too, had she not stopped to look at the backpacks in front of KMart. Oh well, we always spot at least one group every time we visit...so I guess there's always next time. Cliff doesn't understand my stalkerish tendencies. I'm a student of sociology, what can I say? (I think that's a nice way to say "voyeur" actually.)
