We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

Flashback Fri err Saturday...Freedom From Want...Stuart Style

This one was from 2004, I believe. This is one of our kids' favorite things to eat (although now with teenagers, we need two of these to feed us all). They are fun to make (just get a loaf of french bread from the grocery, buy all the stuff you'd get at Subway, cook the bacon, slice up all the veggies and pile it on).

Anyway, we couldn't resist recreating one of mom's favorite images of all time...only Stuart style. I mean, who needs a great big turkey and a relish tray, when you can pile turkey AND the relish tray between two giant slabs of bread, add bacon and nom!?

Happy Holidays, and may you ALL be free from want!
