We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

Our Ridiculous Weather

Well, I think we are officially in "the rainy season"...you know, as opposed to the season where it's raining buckets and people say, "Wow, it's not even the rainy season yet," just to make you feel better.

Lovely, giant drops of rain...

Which, in addition to the vertical variety, also come in diagonal and horizontal.

In fact, we've gotten so much rain, our upside-down tomato plants are in a constant state of wetness from the run-off. This has caused the stems to grow roots to soak up all the moisture. Poor, confused tomatoes!

Why does paradise need so much water?
