We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

Killin Elementary's Got Talent

First off...is it just me, or is it hilarious that a Marine elementary school is named Killin?

It would be even funnier if it was Killin'...but it's not, it's a guy's last name...just plain Edward C. Killin. Still funny, though. I like to say it with my best pirate voice...
Killiiinn'...but that's just me.

Anyhoo, Jake's school talent show was tonight, and the part of photographer/videographer was played by Cliff, as I had another (baby shower) gig and was already committed before this date was released.

Even though I have heard Fur Elise countless times in varying degrees of accomplishment in my own home over the past piano season...AND had a front row seat at his
official recital, it did still give me pangs of remorse to be passing up this opportunity to once again bask in the glow of my brilliant offspring. Plus, if memory serves, I was also missing out on some sweet Britney Spears lip-sync numbers (or whatever today's equivalent would be...thanks to homeschooling, my last elementary talent show experience was at the turn of the century).

Without further delay, I give you Maestro Stuart and
Fur Elise:
