Hope you are all having a fabulous Thanksgiving!
Even though Cliff had his (yesterday) in Okinawa, and the rest of us had ours here...they were still great!
Cliff said almost the whole 1st Marine Air Wing religious ministry team had Thanksgiving together, so he got to meet a lot of the people who he will be working with.
We celebrated with friends from church...4 "adult" ladies, 8 "kids" (from 20somethings on down to 10), and 2 fiances. The food was awesome!
I had to do a little scrambling because my kitchen is on the way to Japan, but I still managed to make homemade rolls (so that it would still be Thanksgiving for Patrick). We actually had rain today, too (which almost never happens) and it made the rolls take forever to rise...which made me realize, I'll bet baking will be totally different in Okinawa...any of my Okinawa friends have any advice?
In conclusion, this Thanksgiving, I am grateful for:
(1) Jesus Christ and His Gospel (this one is a given, but just had to acknowledge it here).
(2) Cliff Stuart (my favorite person in the universe who I am missing terribly as if someone just ripped out my heart while I was sleeping).
(3) Great kids that go with the flow in this adventurous life of ours and crack me up every day!
(4) The opportunity that we have to serve in the capacity that we do (and that it pays the bills).
(5) Friends and family that don't 'write us off' even though we keep skipping town.

Thanks giving day in Okinawa can be weird. The church ( sitrict) invites everyone to the local highschool gym and everybody brings something and eats all together. then while the grownups chat, the kids run around watch a movie on the projection screen and play games. then who ever has the biggest TV gets more people copming over to their house after. As for the baking HA! Have your fav recipes sites on your favorites web list. There is adventure to be found in tasting in the bakeries there but they do not use real sugar! Maybe you can meet my friend Jennifer Cheney she knows how to make the Okinawain donut balls.
But how does the weather affect the baking? Any issues with bread rising or cookies turning out, etc.?
