We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

My Favorite Conference Talks

Just thought I'd share my faves with you. My VERY favorite...(maybe he was just speaking to me) was Finding Joy in the Journey HERE by Pres. Monson. That part about the circus...PIERCED my heart! There is truly much joy to be found in the journey.

My next favorite was Christian Courage: The Price of Discipleship HERE by Elder Hales. On a humorous note...when he was talking about taking advantage of opportunities to present the truth to others (like a kind letter to the editor, a conversation with a friend or a comment on a blog) I turned to Jen next to me and said, "Hehe...he said blog!" I felt quietly justified. Even aside from that, I LOVED this message. As one who has the opportunity to work with those of all faith groups (and appreciates ALL of them!) I found the message very much needed. One of my favorite lines was, "More regrettable than the Church being accused of not being Christian is when Church members react to such accusations in an un-Christlike way! May our conversations with others always be marked by the fruits of the Spirit—”love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, [and] temperance"

I'll just share one more. It is Elder Uchdorf's talk on The Infinite Power of Hope HERE.
With all the suffering and sadness in the world...sadness that has touched our family lately, this talk helped me so much to rely on the hope that comes from Jesus Christ.
