We have MAJOR rootbeer fans in our house...except mom. I don't enjoy rootbeer. I don't know why. I have weird food issues. I only like meat that I can't recognize as meat (free of any skin, fat, veins, bones, anything. Basically it should look like tofu). I have never liked cake...especially not with frosting. I don't like whipped cream (although if I get served something with whipped cream on it now (as an adult) I will eat it and not feel like I am going to suffocate on it like I did as a kid.
I think my issue with rootbeer is the old-fashioned spicy-ness. It's kind of like molasses soda or something...stuff people thought was a treat before they knew the goodness of refined sugar and artificial flavor. Anyway, enough of my OCD issues...I could do a blog on that alone! (Only I'd call it something like "CDO Chronicles"...in alphabetical order...as it should be!)
Anyway, back to the rootbeer. My feelings were not hurt in the least that the plan B treat was rootbeer floats. I have to let them have their fun every once in awhile. Jake asked me if I was having one. Wanting to be a part of the "team", in solidarity with my family, I said, "Sure Jake, I'll have a small one."
This is what my husband brings me.....................
Coree shares hers with Charlotte (I guess a lot of this goes on when I'm not around. Charlotte's favorite....Original Lays. Apparently, she can hear and/or smell one of those little snack packs opening from wherever she is in the whole house.) What you can't see in the photo (although if you stop reading here and imagine the scene advancing one frame at a time, you can probably guess what happened next) is Coree's elbow swinging back and knocking over the glass of creamy rootbeer. Speaking of OCD...I am going to be haunted by dreams tonight of my shoes sticking to the floor as I walk. After 3 attempts at cleaning, there are still sticky spots. Oh well, we'll give it another try tomorrow.
By the way, our Brownie recipe is the BEST! It's just the Baker's One-Bowl Brownie recipe that comes inside the box of unsweetened chocolate squares...with 1 cup of Reese's Peanut Butter Chips substituted for the nuts...the BEST! A little Stuart trivia...this is where Brownie got her name...from our favorite family dessert...
She's SORT OF the color of brownies...but the clincher was the peanut butter chips over the eyes!! Now do you see it? She has been such a sweet treat in our lives (even when she eats an entire chocolate cake...shatters the pan in the process of stealing it off of the stove...and then pukes it back up for us)!
