Before coming here, it's hard to remember exactly what I thought about how certain things would be pertaining to the kids' daily lives, church activities, etc. For one, I thought they'd continue to home school (wrong), I thought there would be very few youth (half wrong...we are overflowing with Young Men at church, and when some leave, new ones move in...but have only a handful of Young Women. For a few weeks last summer, Coree was the only one).
Well, whatever I thought, we have some incredible opportunities for our kids through church activities here. The leaders are awesome, the kids are awesomer. (Yes, I just said that.) Who would have thunk on this little island? Who would have thought we'd have to move to a branch (smaller version of an LDS congregation) to have a decent-sized youth program?
This weekend, Patrick had the opportunity to attend District Youth Conference. Troy's too old. Coree's slightly too young (and Jake is really too young). Patrick was asked to speak this year. Hopefully he did a great job and didn't tell any embarrassing stories.

Here we are waiting at the Plaza Shoppette for everyone to arrive. Since 90% of the Youth live in our neighborhood, this is usually the meeting place for any outing. If we cut through playstreet, it's literally just a few yards from our house.

Besides hamming it up for the camera, the kids were enjoying a rousing game of Catch Phrase.

Deven: "You know...that thing you use for the thing..."
Brandon: "toothpick!" "lightsaber!" "spoon!"

These next several photos might lead you to believe I was actually AT the youth conference. That would be incorrect. I just happen to share an iPhoto account with Patrick. This comes in very handy for keeping tabs on his comings and goings. That and tagging on Facebook. Best. Invention. Ever.

But since I wasn't there, I can't tell you who or what these photos are of...
