We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

Flashback Friday...Kindergarten...Awkward Family Photo Style

Speaking of Awkward Family Photos Dot Com...I think today's post has some serious candidates! Today, we are looking back at everyone's first day of Kindergarten.

This wasn't actually Troy's first day (but close enough)...and while Miss Patti looks adorable...Troy looks less than thrilled.

This one cracks me up. It all started in Kindergarten. It wasn't too much longer and I found Patrick and Megan (to his left) spooning on the living room floor watching Pokemon.

Coree started Kindergarten at one school...and from day one, HATED it (can you tell? She looks stressed out here to me). It had little to do with the teacher...she was just "blessed" with a crowd of really ill-behaved boys that kind of hijacked the program. Luckily, an opening freed up at Troy and Patrick's charter school one week later (she was on the waiting list) and she was able to move to the Kindergarten class of her dreams with Miss Annetta.

While the haircut is bad, the face is precious! Jake LOVED his Kindergarten teacher...and he got to have her for 1st grade, too, since it was a combo class.

Come to think of it, ALL our kids had fantastic Kindergarten teachers. Is it a requirement that they have the patience of a saint and the demeanor of Polyanna...or did we just get extremely lucky?
