WE'RE ready...rain or shine!
Troy is number 68. These pics are from Kubasaki's first home game against Kadena.
Does this look familiar?

How about now?
Hit 'em hard, Troy!
Patrick was recruited to help with the markers. (If you look back at the second picture, you can see him up in the upper right corner.) We were imagining what he was saying to Troy at half time here..."Did you see me with the orange flag? Did you see me running up and down the line? Did you SEE how I staked that marker into the ground? You can totally tell I've been working out."
And these are pics from Kubasaki's first away game at our rival, Kadena High.
Love the green on green...(is it wrong to care about fashion in football?)
Way to hustle, Troy!
That's Troy, crouched down in the green right in front. I discovered it's really hard to get defensive line action shots...
They all just come out looking like this.
(This pic was taken right after the shot above it...all you can see is Troy's legs, as his torso is buried in the guy's chest in front of him.)
We have been having LOTS of fun watching Troy play...and we are so proud of and amazed by the progress he has made. He has been so dedicated to the team. He started in April with Spring training...and went from not thinking he could do it after ten minutes had gone by on the first day, to being able to do most everything the other players did (maybe some of them a little slower) in June. He worked out at the gym 2 1/2 hours every weekday over the summer for football conditioning, with no one but a friend (a fellow player) and himself to be accountable to. I never had to remind him of anything (quite the other way around actually) and he never complained.
Official practice started (with full gear in the hot and humid Okinawan glory) on August 10th, and his coaches were so pleased with the progress he'd made over the summer. His hard work has really paid off.
Troy will have the opportunity to do at least 2 off-island games this year...a privilege the Varsity team looks forward to.
Go Dragons!

Way to go Troy!!! Soo wish we could see him play! We spent 6 years sitting on those benches loving the games! Yes, rain or shine, bugs or freezing cold! LOL Thanks for posting!!! Now just for a video clip and i will feel like i was there!! LOL! Miss you guys!!!
He looks the part. I think if he came charging down the field/pitch (?) at me I would hand him the ball and run away!
I never thought I'd miss my boys playing football. After 10 straight years of high school alone.. and MANY more years of pre-high school football.. I was ready for it to be over.. Well, guess what? I miss it! I LOVE football. Just came back from watching Brett's boy, Cody play. I'm so impressed with Troy and his perseverance. It's NOT easy!
friday night lights all the way over here in Okinawa...who would've thought that?
Looks like a fun time! I love how you're all bundled up...
