We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

Zion's* (hehe)

*In case you didn't pick up on it...the title is a bit of a private joke, having to do with a Facebook status update during the trip...sparked by the realization that it is common in Utah to add an extraneous, possessive S to certain words. Maybe you have to be a word nerd to find this funny. We now return you to this blog post, already in progress:

My mom, Justin, Brittani and Evey accompanied Cliff and me to Zion National Park. (16 years ago, Cliff and Justin spent the day hiking up The Narrows here. Since then, we've only been here once, and we had lots of little kids, so we stuck to the main roads.) It was a beautiful day.

I know this is random, but I always love it when broken down and/or smashed up vehicles have bumper stickers supporting causes. Is this really who you want stumping for you? Just sayin'.

While Evey is gorgeous in anything, she was not wearing the bandanna as a fashion statement...Brittani was unsure about the sunscreen she applied to Evey's head (it kind of got stuck in her hair)...so she got this bandanna at the gift shop just to be sure. Having Aunt Jemima expertise (don't ask me how), I tied it up with just the right flair.

(BTW...the r key on my keyboard is suddenly sticking. It is really annoying. Just thought I'd share. There you go.)

We started out a little later than we had hoped...so we had a lot of ground to cover to make sure we'd make the last return bus trip of the day. Here's some of what we saw:

I even loved the view out the top of the bus. The photos don't do it justice.

Can you find the rock climber in this photo?

He was almost as hard to find in real life, too. Here Justin tries to help Brittani find him using landmarks on the rockface...

While Cliff does the same for this gentleman. Some of these climbers brought cots with them to actually sleep hanging off the rockface. Craziness, if you ask me!

Hot young parents.

Oooh...and a hot {less-young} husband...

And strong, too.

Is this Christmas card material...or what? (This was taken at the end of the trail at the beginning of The Narrows...the same hike Cliff and Justin had taken on their own all those years ago. Crazy kids.)

Chika-bow-WOW!

Finally got one of Mom on the return ride...Hi, Mom!

If only Jimmy were here, too. Love this pic, though.

The End.

The date on these last two posts threw me…

I love going to ZionS, too. It's a beautiful area and I usually get down there at least once a year.

Love it.

TF...I know, I'm sucking lately...these are all dated when they happened...I save stuff in the queue just to keep track of it...I have a post that's been holding up all the others, though. It will make sense soon. Thanks for still stopping by, though! =^)
