Cliff and I spotted this while waiting for our food at one of our favorite Indian restaurants, Nepal Spice Kichin (yes...that's how it's spelled).
They don't have any Heineken or Corona...but theirs are just as good!
I just can't get enough of the L and R reversals here. Yes, I'm easily amused. I recently bought an Engrish Tshirt that says (among other things) "Good Viblations". LOVE it! Until moving here, I could never remember which letter it was that the Japanese had trouble pronouncing...L's or R's. Turns out it's BOTH. They don't have either of these sounds in their language...so they pronounce them the same...and it's somewhere in between the two...so they really do use them interchangeably in writing, also.
This one tickles me so! While I am sure it is supposed to be the Humming Bird...I love the visual of a lyrical poet...who hums. How would that be possible, anyway? Because if you're humming then how...? Oh well, it doesn't matter...it's still funny.
Another yummy Indian restaurant, Ali Babba. Besides the "Lumb" Curry...I love the disclaimer on the cheese naan. It isn't anywhere close to saying what they want it to...but isn't it funny that we still understand it? (The lunch sets come with naan and even a free second naan if you like. Unless you choose the cheese or garlic naan, which will not only cost you another 100 yen, but they won't give you a free second helping either.)
I wanted to buy this so bad. Turns out, it wasn't for sale. It was one of the prizes that you might win if you bought a ticket for Y500 at Lawson (like a 7-11). I'm not a gambler, but I was sure tempted. This is an umbrella, by the way. I am going to be on the lookout for something else with this on it. I MUST leave here with a blue-nosed reindeer doctor. It's a bonus if I can find his pirate side-kick, too!
This was up on the side of a business during Chinese New Year. "Happy New Money" everyone!
McDonald's is so popular here, it's not even funny. Not being a burger fan myself...I have no desire. I've eaten here twice in the 14 months I've lived here...and neither was my choice. There's so much good Japanese food...and cuisine from all over the world, really...why McDonald's? Anyway, the irony here just caught my eye. Big America burger...yep, that's right...that's why we're "Big America".
