We are the Stuarts (formerly of Imperial) now residing in Okinawa, Japan.

This blog started from a desire to bridge the miles as we were preparing to leave the USA for 3+ years. It has turned into much more. It's part travel diary, part personal reflection, part "sociology of military life" and part mommy-blog. We hope you read something here that is interesting to you (or at least not a total waste of your time).

Happy 4th of July Everyone!

We hope you are all having a fantastic 4th of July. We miss the tradition we had of going to the ASW base in San Diego to participate in the festivities for military families and watch all of the fireworks going off there...I think they set them off simultaneously from 4 different locations. It's a little smaller here. At least we don't have to fight the traffic afterward! We had a good old-fashioned pancake breakfast and parade...very small town, and lots of fun for the kids.
